Hollow Shell of Our Fathers

As I sat awake at 2 AM checking the result of the Senate cloture vote on their version of health insurance “reform” (though I’m not sure anyone has actually seen it), I have to think back to my previous post, ‘Line in the Sand.’

It appears the best health care system will be solidly on that slippery slope toward government take-over and its impending mis-management and rationing as it occurs everywhere it exists. No one but those who now have to own this vote believe this will improve care, save money, prohibit paying for the killing of babies, and not cover illegals.  Some polls show well over 50% don’t trust Congress to make ANY changes and a CNN poll showed over 60% didn’t want this as proposed. I’m convinced that most of them know it’s a lie and the endgame is very much different than stated.

But that’s not all.  Despite the coolest summer in our history, thousands of emails exposing the attempts to exclude data that didn’t fit the agenda, thousands of scientists questioning that human activity is causing the earth to warm,  and amidst massive snowstorms in several parts of the globe, a world summit took place that was hell-bent on doing something about this supposed warming. 

Colored by rants from the likes of Hugo Chavez against the evils of capitalism, cheered enthusiastically by the way, there was mostly haggling over how certain “poor” countries could legally steal money from the Americans and Europeans under a global agreement.  Even though no agreement was crafted, our own Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, proposed giving $100 BILLION per year to the cause. Surely this was under the authorization of the White House.  Better keep those Treasury printing presses on.

Now comes the one that may break the camel’s back.

A member of the House of Representatives again raised the desire to grant a “pathway to citizenship,” a pretty name for amnesty, despite multiple millions of real Americans being out of work and no end to the unemployment line in sight.  He actually said it could help us to do that.   But that is not the real evil that is lurking behind immigration “reform.”

The evil is not the loss of more jobs or the cost of covering their medical expenses.  We’re already experiencing that and have been for many years.  The evil will lie in loss of representation.

Imagine that ten to twenty million (or more – who knows?) illegals, by the waving of the Democrats’ magic wand, are deemed to be citizens of the United States. Yes, people who don’t know or care about our culture or identity, don’t speak our language and soon to receive “free” health coverage, welfare and social security benefits will have a huge say in who will represent us in Congress and especially the White House.  All by sneaking over our wide-open borders.  Which party do you suppose a vast majority will vote for? One that encourages personal responsibilty (or used to) or the one that will give them everything they’ve lacked in their home country, plus some?  The likes of the last two nail-biter elections will never be seen again.  My vote will become worthless. We will never be able to overcome that vote deficit. And all by the stroke of a pen.  Representatives won’t listen to us any more on amnesty than they have on the health care debate. Why should they? There will be a Senator prostitute him/herself once in a while for extra goodies, but they have all the votes needed to pass anything they want.  A proud, smiling, and willing World Citizen is in the White House to sign every piece of insidious legislation.

Amnesty will encourage even more immigration from all over the world, further multiplying its effect.  It means we will never be able to elect a conservative President ever again.  To anyone who thinks that sounds ridiculous, I’m open to hearing how you think that can occur, let alone how you think that it will occur. I argue that it cannot. Benjamin Franklin said,” When the people figure out they can vote themselves money, it heralds the end of the Republic.”  It appears we have reached that tipping point. I pray that I’m wrong and that it’s been just the coincidence of several unfortunate events.

And I finally arrive at the premise of the title.  Are we no longer Americans?  Have we become the hollow shell of the Founding Fathers? Are we like the once-proud British who have given up the fight? Succumbing to One World socialist EU rule and Islamic immigration jihad, the nation that one hundred years ago ruled nearly half the planet is on the verge of losing it’s identity forever. 

America is under assault by those same forces, and to be perfectly honest, I thought the UK was a full 10 years ahead of us.  But the events of 2009 indicate we are much closer than we could have ever imagined.  The world (with the help of the likes of George Soros) has us in their sights and are pulling out all the stops to take us down financially, and as the last bastion of freedom and self-determination.   A New World Order cannot allow our belligerence to stand.  We must submit for the world to be an equitable place for all (meaning subsistence for all but the ruling elites).

We have run out of sand.  The line, if it’s to be drawn again, will have to be somewhat final.  The domestic enemy is one step away from controlling our very essence and our lives through both health “reform” and environmental legislation.  We will be forced to weigh the right amount, eat the right food, exercise the right amount, drive the right vehicles, set our thermostats at the right temperature and on ad infinitum or we will be punished.

Does that sound like America?  Is our patriotism all just bluster?   There are millions of dead and wounded that fought for freedom on foreign lands.  We are about to spit in their faces.  Can we look our soldiers in the eye and say we support them when we won’t even step up to the plate with our cowardly representatives? 

Many very wise people are saying that our economy could go south again. How bad does it have to get before things turn ugly?  For those that are dependent on government for their every need, it may not take much once the checks shrink or disappear.  I’ve spoken with several veterans lately and they tell me explicitly that they see what a powder keg we’re living in. I don’t fear our military, current or former. I also don’t fear LOCAL law enforcement.  They are our neighbors and friends.  They want the same things we want: freedom and opportunity for themselves and, more importantly, for their children and grandchildren. Please take time to talk to them.   They also tell me they took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution and all have said they did not recant.  We should stand shoulder to shoulder for our Constitution and our way of life.  We owe them much, much more.

Many months and many crises have gone by since I started this project.  Most of this document is verbatim from the magnificent original.  I encourage you to read through the original declaration and see if the same thoughts come to you as did me.  You will be surprised by the similarity of the grievances we have in common with the founders when they wrote their historic and world-changing document.

The Declaration of Independence II

 When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. 

We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation as such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.

 Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.  But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.  Such has been the patient sufferance of these colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former systems of government.

The history of the current and recent Governing Bodies is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny.  To prove this, let facts be submitted to a candid world.

You have refused assent to laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

You have forbidden legislators to pass laws of immediate and pressing importance, such as would allow us to produce energy from our own abundant resources, and secure our shared borders.

You have bought or otherwise coerced others to pass laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, under threat and bribe; a tactic inestimable to tyrants only.

You have brought forth legislation at hours unusual, for expediency, and denied complete understanding of bills debated, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with your measures

You have endeavored to populate our lands by ignoring laws for naturalization of foreigners, to encourage migration hither in defiance of the people and our laws, for therein lies a multitude of constituents to extend your power over the people infinitely and indefinitely.

You have obstructed the administration of justice by appointing judges averse to complying with judicial constraints set forth by our Constitution demanding justice be blind.  Justice shall be no respecter of persons. 

You have named judges dependent on your own political whims, placing them in permanent seats to reinterpret that which is obvious.

You have erected a multitude of new offices, and sent hither swarms of officers to harass our people and eat out their substance. The EPA, DHS, FDA, FEMA, BATF, NSA, IRS and any number of other alphabet agencies are an affront to our own personal sovereignties and wealth.

You have combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving your assent to their acts of pretended legislation.  Kyoto, the United Nations, NAFTA, the Organization of American States, World Health Organization and the World Trade Organization, being a few of the egregious entanglements meant to weaken our national sovereignty.

You have quartered large bodies of illegals among us.

You have made excuses for any crimes and murders for which they should commit on any inhabitants of these states; at times persecuting those designated to protect your citizens from those same criminals.

You have blindly opened up our markets to those who don’t reciprocate, nor do they adhere to the stifling regulations imposed upon domestic businesses.

You have imposed taxes on us at every turn, for every activity or inactivity, every product and its method of production.

You have bowed to the pressures of foreign entities to place members of our volunteer armies on criminal trial for doing their sworn duty to protect the citizens and interests of these states.

You have established arbitrary government, expanding your powers so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for continuing absolute rule over the states, disregarding the Tenth Amendment meant to ensure the sovereignty of the separate states.    

You have chiseled away our most valuable laws and altering fundamentally the forms of our government. The right to own and manage ones own property as he sees fit, the right to criticize government without reproach, and the right to bear arms, are the foundations of a free society.

You have plundered our businesses, land and bank accounts and destroyed the lives of many.

You are blindly allowing large numbers of foreign jihadists to plot works of death and desolation and cruelty scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages; totally unworthy as the heads of a civilized state.

You have permitted domestic insurrections amongst us, and have endeavored to bring upon inhabitants the merciless Islamist savages whose known rule of warfare is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes, and conditions.

In every stage of these oppressions we have petitioned for redress in the most humble terms; our repeated petitions have been answered only by repeated injury.  A Congress, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a tyrant, is unfit to be the rulers of a free people.

Nor have we been wanting in our attention to our elected officials.  We have warned them from time to time of attempts by the legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us.  We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here.  We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence.  They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity.  We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity which denounces our separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, enemies in war, in peace, friends.

We, therefore, the People of the United States of America, in general congress assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the name and by the authority of the good people of these states, solemnly publish and declare, that these united states are, and of right ought to be, free and independent states; that they are absolved from all allegiance to the derelict government, and that all political connection between them and the Federal government is, and ought to be, totally dissolved; and that as free and independent states they have full power to levy war, conclude peace, contract alliances, establish commerce, and to do all other acts and things which independent states may of right to do.  And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

Obama’s DHS – “We are all terrorists now.”

It’s time to give them something to fear.

As Patrick Henry said, “The Constitution is not an instrument for government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government – lest it come to dominate our lives and interests.”

Thomas Jefferson said, “What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that they preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms.”  It’s not yet that time, and God help us that we never get to that point, but the wisdom of the founders came from experience.

So there were some objections by civil liberties officials in DHS to the report issued last week placing over half the country on a watchlist.  Of course the report still went out.  I really believe those of us that are on the right need to be the voices of reason and civility, but I’m afraid this will be another rant much like the one last week about the Apologist-in-Chief. 

Most of us are aware of the report issued from Homeleand Security stating that pro-lifers, believers in the Constitution with all its gun ownership, free speech, right to assemble, rights of states OVER the federal govt., etc. , and – most egregiously – veterans who have risked life and limb, should be watched for increased possibility of violent actions against the federal government.

Because of the  outrage from normal citizens who have an opinion contrary to the “enlightened,” President Obama has “distanced himself” from his own department on this report.

Again, Mr. President, you are showing yourself to be inept at making appointments to your cabinet to implement your policies and have no control what your administration does.  Or you don’t have the political will or perceived mandate to stand up and actually say what you believe,  preferring to hide behind those doing your dirty work.  Both apply, but you and your Marxo-Socialist handlers know that if you tell the American people that you hate and distrust half of them, MORE THAN OUR SWORN FOREIGN ENEMIES – judging by your appeasing actions with Castro and Iran and Syria, etc), your meteoric political rise may come to a screeching halt under the boots of the patriots you so despise.

Is it coincidence that this report came out right before the Tea Parties? Your mind-numbed sycophants and groupies may believe it coincidence, but we ain’t buyin’ that any more than anything else that comes from this administration.  Your Marxist Mentor Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals says the end justifies the means – truth be damned. 

I’m sure you made it a point to avoid any sight of the tea parties for fear of making your knees quake, but if you have ANY thoughts on a positive legacy, you would be wise to look out the window and see the 50+ million potential terrorists that surround you and your minions.  Your complicit media friends don’t have the luxury of hiding behind others as you do. They have fully vested themselves in your success, and we know they sense the real possibility of your administration’s collapse and have  had to ramp up the propaganda. Their readership / viewership is falling and failing at a disastrous clip and they can’t figure out why.  Demeaning and slandering well over half your potential customers doesn’t seem like much of a business plan.  But then again, the behemoth that is our government will not let their propaganda arm fail (see my post recent post here

We know you don’t pull the strings, but you are the face of the monster and you are growing uglier with the passing of each day. 

Come on, America! This is our country and we have every right to take it back from the bastardizing politicians that have run rough-shod over one of the greatest documents ever written, the US Constitution.  This has been occurring for decades and our time is now!

Who should join the fight?
1.  Anyone who believes the Constitution is our basis for governance.
2. Anyone who goes to church since most churches, at least any worth their salt, are vehemently opposed to the killing of human babies.
3. Veterans of any or even no conflict, and their family members.
4. Democrats – see above
5. Republicans – see above
6. Living, breathing humans
7. Those who enjoy freedom in the greatest country on Earth.
If this list doesn’t constitute a huge majority, the battle is already lost. 

What will YOU do about the daily,  incessant attacks on our freedoms?
The Tea Parties have to be the beginning and we have to stay “in it to win it.”
The Left is laughing at us – who will have the last laugh?

The American (citizen) Way – take back what is ours. Is there a lesson here?

While the administration was contorting and figuring out how to blame the US for the hijacking of one of our own ships, or at least to not offend the Muslim sensitivities of the pirates,  the crew took the ship back, has one Barbarian in custody and some are “in the water.” I don’t think they meant in a boat.

Could this be a harbinger of things to come?  Allow me to stretch a little (actually a lot,  but it is MY blog), but I’m looking for encouragement wherever I can find it.

The President was unable to issue a statement other than that the situation was being closely monitored. A President incapable of handling any situation with a strong response, leads to…

The unarmed crew somehow overtaking the pirates who were certainly armed.  Pure will and determination to not be held prisoner for long…

This is the first time I remember a ship being retaken since becoming a frequent news item. When was the last time – a COUPLE HUNDRED years ago when our Navy, under the legitimate command of Thomas Jefferson fought these same Muslim robbers?

This was an American-flagged ship.  Huge ransoms have been paid in previous hijackings of ships from other countries, but NOT THIS ONE…

The criminals were thrown overboard or held in custody.  Two implications here – 1.TEA PARTIES (get to one next week) and 2. the removal and/or incarceration of the criminals in Washington that are doing their best to hijack our country and hold us captive.

Yes, this was a stretch, but it was kinda fun!  Humor me, we all know it’s been a rough ride over the las few months.
Please, please get to a Tea Party next week.  Yes, it’s symbolic, but it’s a necessary first step.

The perfect short story to illustrate the pitfall of socialism – learn it, love it and spread it!

Got this from my friends at offmyfrontporch.  Steve said I could borrow it.  Click the link for the whole story, but here’s what caught my eye.  Socialism made simple.

 

An economics professor at Texas Tech said he had never failed a single student before but had, once, failed an entire class. That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said ok, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism.
 
All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A. After the first test the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. But, as the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too; so they studied little.. The second test average was a D! No one was happy.
When the 3rd test rolled around the average was an F.
 
The scores never increased as bickering, blame, name calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great; but when government takes all the reward away; no one will try or want to succeed.
 
Could not be any simpler than that….

You’re the President now, Mr. Obama.

As justification for immediately breaking yet another campaign promise, The Prez will sign a pork-laden spending bill, while purportedly “holding his nose,” because this is a hold-over from the past year’s budget.  Mr. Obama, Geo. Bush is gone and for the last 2 years both houses of Congress, who wrote this bill by the way, are in your party.  

Mr. Obama, YOU are the President now and that means that you’ll actually have to make decisions and take actions.  Lofty prompter-assisted speeches are not going to sustain you for long.  Votes of “present” are not acceptable. You are not in Chicago anymore. 

When your appeasment of terrorists fails I can’t wait to hear your excuse when we get hit again.  As businesses close their doors due to your tax increases and proposed energy cost increases  and unionization through Cardcheck, YOU will be held accountable. 

You are the leader of the free world – act like it. Yes, we know you inherited a bad situation, but you ran for this office and told people you can handle it.  You have a lot to prove to about half of this country and it’s not looking too good for you.

Had enough yet? Today’s usurpation of the Constitution – again with the help of Republicans – sigh

Are we sick of this trampling of our Constitution yet?  Note the deals and irrelevant arguments.  That and the Republicans supporting it that should know better.  Will Senator Hatch usurp the Constitution for adding a single seat in a state where he will be senator for a just a few more years?  And as Sen. McCain points out, once they have a Representative in the House, could 2 senate seats be far behind? This most liberal and screwed up city (only SF may be worse) would have as much representation as any state.  I expect this from the power-mongers in the Democrat party as it would automatically put 2 votes in their column. Is it too much to expect the Republicans to think about what a few are about to do?

The District of Columbia’s two-century-long wait for a voice in Congress was a step closer to ending Tuesday with a crucial Senate vote to take up legislation giving the capital city’s 600,000 residents a full seat in the House.

The Senate voted 62-34, two more than needed, to begin debate on the measure that would increase the House to 437 members. It would give the Democratic-dominated city a new vote while adding a fourth seat to Republican-leaning Utah.

Key to the vote was that Democrats, who overwhelmingly support the bill, have seven more Senate seats than two years ago when the chamber fell three votes short of the 60 required to end a Republican-led filibuster.

The bill still faces contentious amendments and may have to overcome GOP opposition to moving to a final vote. If it does pass the Senate, possibly by the end of the week, the bill goes on to a receptive House and ultimately to President Barack Obama, who supports it.

If enacted into law, the measure is likely to face court challenges from opponents who contend that giving a House seat to D.C. is unconstitutional because the District is not a state. The Supreme Court could be the final arbiter.

“I find it unimaginable that 600,000 Americans have no voice and no vote in the United States Congress,” the Senate’s no. 2 Democrat, Dick Durbin of Illinois, said in urging support for the measure.

Past votes denying residents of the federal capital a vote in the House “left the citizens of the District with the wholly unsought-after distinction of being the only residents of a democratically ruled national capital in the world who have no say in how their nation is governed. It’s really astounding,” said Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., sponsor of the measure with Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah.

“We’re closer than we’ve ever been,” Ilir Zherka, executive director of the advocacy group DC Vote, said ahead of a preliminary vote.

More than 3,000 people from across the nation called their senators Monday asking them to support the measure, according to DC Vote. Callers from the District, who don’t have a senator, were directed to lawmakers who might be uncertain, such as Sen. Kay Hagan, D-N.C.

Washington has been without a vote in Congress since 1801, when Congress took control of the newly created capital on the Potomac but did not provide residents with voting rights.

Voting rights advocates believe the measure will win enough Senate support for a final vote later this week that requires only a simple majority for passage. The House Judiciary Committee votes on the legislation Wednesday, and the full House could take it up in early March.

With the president’s signature, D.C. residents would elect a representative with full voting rights for January 2011, barring court interdiction.

One possible stumbling block, Zherka said, is that some lawmakers could add amendments making the bill less appealing to voting rights supporters. In 2007, the bill was slowed in the House after Republicans proposed language that would weaken the city’s gun laws.

Opponents argue that the bill violates the Constitution, which says members of the House should be chosen “by the people of the several states.” The District, of course, is not a state.

Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, who spoke in favor of the bill earlier this month, said the question of constitutionality should be resolved by the courts, not Congress.

“As a matter of fundamental fairness, I believe the residents of the District of Columbia should have representation in the House,” she said.

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., has spoken out against the bill. He said the legislation could be the first step toward giving the District two senators. He also criticized the compromise that would give Utah an extra House seat, saying that is unfair to other high-growth states.

“I don’t like the deal and I think it is unconstitutional,” he said.

The District has been represented since 1991 by Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton.

Norton, like five other delegates from island territories, can vote in committees and on some amendments on the House floor but not on final passage of legislation.

For the real scoop on what the Framers envisioned go to Heritage.  This is not about taxation without representation, as the locals say.  Every Congressman, Cabinet member and even the President lives there.  They get huge amounts of federal dollars.

Obama’s speech to Congress – more of the same

Nothing new here. 

Spend trillions, blame it on Bush, promise many trillions more through “health care reform,” and then talk about how fiscally responsible your administration will be by cutting the deficit in half by the end of your first term.  All after predicting “trillion dollar deficits as far as the eye can see.”  Though it seems all disjointed and nonsensical, that’s what he’s saying.

Dictator(ess) Pelosi takes Congress from (half) the People of America

No surprise here.  The Dems had to be the minority for a couple years after ruling with an iron fist for decades and the poor, oppressed elitists couldn’t handle it. So, in their time-honored true spirit of partisanship, the Dems have shut the door on their counterparts in the House that represent roughly half the country.  Yes, there were many millions that didn’t vote for Obama, believe it or not.

Read this release from John Boehner (R, Ohio – and very weak leader of the RP) that explains what Pelosi and her co-conspirators did to prevent any substantive debate or amending of their bills by the Republicans to the Dems perceived (in their own minds) mandate for change (read socialization of America).

Even you that are still swooning about the incoming President should be concerned about the power grab that has taken place.  But then again, this won’t affect American Idol, Oprah or Desperate Housewives, so  you probably don’t care.
