‘Powers that Be’ Nix Democrat Conyers probe of ACORN
Posted by foundersfreedom on June 26, 2009
And who might be that power? Perhaps the President himself?
ACORN, thoroughly immersed in scandal and fraud while annually receiving hundreds of millions in walking around money under the guise of social and economic “justice,” is one of his favorite entities. Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now – the ultimate Organized Community for which the Prez is indebted to for their huge impact on his election.
This organization uses tax dollars to feed it’s ever-growing lust for more of our tax dollars. Only during this past election had we even heard of this organization. Where are the watchdogs of good government? Where were the hapless Republicans all these years that they allowed such a corrupt organization to receive so much tax money? This is “machine politics” at it’s finest – perfectly suited for a thug politician from Chicago. I’m sure any critic that stood in their way would be deemed a racist and their reputations smashed.
ACORN’s sole existence is to buy votes with our money in order to get more money to buy more votes. This has to stop, but lo, “the powers that be” say “leave it alone.” Or else? Now the corrupt organization is set to do the census in 2010. The census drives the apportionment of funds to the states. What kind of dirty tricks do they have up their sleeves for this?
For a look into ACORN’s attitude toward America, here’s a quote off the front page of an allied organization, social policy.org (emphasis mine) -“SOCIAL POLICY asks what is to be done to secure basic structural changes in American society. Its pages will provide a meeting ground — and battleground — where ideas, tactics and strategies for radical reconstruction of American institutions can be expressed and exchanged, tested and debated, expanded and deepened.”
Read that again. Guess whose mug is prominently on the cover? You guessed it – the Community Organizer -in-chief.
Who stopped the inquiry is a question that needs to be answered. In the meantime, with 14 lawsuits against them, it’s time to at least temporarily pull the funding plug on ACORN.
Here are excerpts from the story in the Washington Times: emphasis mine
House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers Jr. has backed off his plan to investigate purported wrongdoing by the liberal activist group ACORN, saying ?powers that be? put the kibosh on the idea.
Mr. Conyers, Michigan Democrat, earlier bucked his party leaders by calling for hearings on accusations the Association of Community Organization for Reform Now (ACORN) has committed crimes ranging from voter fraud to a mob-style “protection” racket. (True Chicago style)
“The powers that be decided against it,” Mr. Conyers told The Washington Times as he left the House chambers Wednesday.
[...]
“Chairman Conyers has a responsibility to explain who is blocking this investigation, and why. Is it Speaker Pelosi? Others in the Democratic leadership? Who in Congress is covering up ACORN’s corruption?” said Michael Steel, spokesman for House Minority Leader John A. Boehner, Ohio Republican.
[...]
Capitol Hill had bristled at the prospect of hearings because it threatened to rekindle criticism of the financial ties and close cooperation between President Obama’s campaign and ACORN and its sister organizations Citizens Services Inc. and Project Vote.
[...]
ACORN and its affiliates are currently the target of at least 14 lawsuits related to voter fraud in the 2008 election and a Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act complaint filed by former ACORN members.
[...]
ACORN also provided liberal causes with protest-for-hire services and coerced donations from targets of demonstrations through a shakedown it called the “muscle for the money” program, said Ms. Heidelbaugh, a member of the executive board of the Republican National Lawyers Association.
–end–
Just think of it. Our own tax dollars used to shake us down for more tax dollars. What a gig.
