Awaken – Lawrence Tribble

Posted by foundersfreedom on December 21, 2008

One man awake,
Awakens another.
The second awakens
His next door brother.
The three awake can rouse a town
By turning
the whole place
Upside down

The many awake
Can cause such a fuss
It finally awakens the rest of us.
One man up,
With dawn in his eyes
Surely then
Multiplies

Written in the late 1700s, this poem spoke to Tribbles’ contemporaries spiritually as well as culturally.  It can say the same thing to those of us looking for an answer to the madness of today.  An awakening needs to happen both spiritually as well as culturally.   In Tribbles’ time, the drive toward independence was building and coalescing in the young colonies.  So it is now in our time.  I believe the stirrings have begun.  Godspeed this new awakening.

  1. I am one man awake!

I am not referring to the happening on Wall Street, (Occupy)….most of the occupy groupies are useful idiots being led like sheep by the intelligensia of Marxist and Socialist persuasion. What I am referring to is an awakening to the principles that founded our nation and our renewed faith in Almighty God, Jesus Christ. For He said, “you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” Mat.8:32 The Poem by Tribble was written prior to the Revolutionary War. News to the occupiers….we have already had our Revolution…
